NERIP seminar: the environment and economic policy
Wednesday 30th September 2009
A North East Regional Information Partnership seminar on Wednesday 30 September 2009 looks at the impact of environmental concerns on economic policy, and will provide an overview of the challenges of sustainability, climate change and economic growth for the Regional Strategy.
Introduced by Paul Mooney, chief economist at One North East, the event also includes Professor Paul Ekins, Professor of Energy and Environment Policy at University College London’s Energy Institute Institute, who will discuss how to meet the challenges of sustainability and climate change in practical ways; and presentations on two analytical tools - one which models greenhouse gas emissions against economic growth scenarios, forward to 2020 and 2050, and the other looking at the future environmental impacts of consumer spending as a function of economic growth.
