18th UK Public Health Association Annual Public Health Forum

Wednesday 24th March 2010 - Thursday 25th March 2010

Location: Bournemouth

The 18th UK Public Health Association Annual Public Health Forum: Confronting the Public Health Crisis takes place at the Bournemouth International Centre from 24-25 March 2010.

The forum is taking place on the very brink of a general election. Now is your chance to hear the policies and thoughts of all the main political parties health spokespersons and contribute to the debate on the great issues of public health. Each party spokesperson will be addressing a separate Plenary session and we are also privileged to have two of Barak Obama’s senior advisors speaking on freeing the power of communities to manage their own destinies and co-produce their own good health.

Sir Michael Marmot will be welcoming you to the forum as the foremost agents of change who will be taking forward his Report “Fair Society, Healthy Lives” and implementing its recommendations.

Now more than ever we in the public health community must mobilise our resources and lead from the front in engaging with the critical issues of our time. The 18th Annual Forum will offer you every opportunity to share, learn and unite in bringing about change.

Key issues for discussions, debate and presentation will include:

•What the doctor ordered, social justice and power to the people? The implications of the Marmot Report

•Gaining health through participation, democracy and citizenship

•Ageing, longevity and inequalities

•Resource depletion and population health

•Creating healthy communities – housing transport and green spaces

•Health and wellbeing in a time of economic and ecological crisis

We at the UK Public Health Association are dedicated to reducing inequalities in public health and are eager to share with and learn from their colleagues across the country. The conference will feature a comprehensive and engaging programme with keynote presentations from leading figures in the public health arena and an exciting and educative Arts & Health content. Along with this, a packed exhibition and excellent networking opportunities, an exciting and informative conference awaits.

Conference fees range from £200-£255 for 1 day attendance and from £320-£420 for full conference attendance.

There is a 50% discount available to voluntary and community workers, full time students, those retired or unwaged as well as for small charity organisations.
