Who calls the shots in public health policy? A look at Brazil, Russia and India
The Durham University Department of Anthropology's Medical Anthropology Research Group presents Dr Devi Sridhar in a talk on Wednesday 17 February from 12-1.30pm in the Anthropology Seminar Room, Dawson Building, Room 104.
Dr Sridhar, of All Souls College, University of Oxford, will be talking about the multi-layered influences on public health policy through a closer look at Brazil, Russia and India.
He will then look at how budgetary allocations in health (a strong marker of priority) compares with public health 'evidence' as to how money should be allocated and identifies several disjunctures.
Several factors will be put forwrd to help explain why certain diseases and health issues receive much more attention than others.
