1 July: 6929 with swine flu in UK
Three hundred and forty two further patients under investigation in England have been confirmed through laboratory testing with swine flu. Together with the 44 new cases in Scotland, one in Northern Ireland and four in Wales, this brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed UK cases identified since April to 6929.
Marmot Review consultation now open
Consultation on the first phase of the Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England Post 2010 (Marmot Review) is open. The review team is also asking for submissions of evidence and best practice.
Second swine flu death in UK
An elderly man who was suffering from swine flu has died, health officials have confirmed. The 73-year-old was being treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley at the time.
UK heatwave health risk
The Met Office has forecast that in at least the next two to three days there is a 60% chance of temperatures in the West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, Southeast England, London and Southwest England regions, being high enough on at least two consecutive days to give rise to significant health risks.
